Fayetteville Observer: Campbell alumnus Brad Fritsch making the most of his time on PGA Tour
Today’s Fayetteville Observer has a piece from Eddie Southard on Brad Fritsch, a 2000 Campbell University alumnus who finished tied for ninth in the PGA Tour’s recent Farmers Insurance Golf. Here’s the lead:
Brad Fritsch took 13 years to earn his way onto the PGA Tour. Now, he’s playing like he never wants to leave. The 2000 Campbell graduate had his first top 10 finish on the tour Monday in the Farmers Insurance Open in San Diego. He shot 7 under and tied for ninth place. He is now 3-for-3 this month in making the cut in tour events… .
And here’s what next for Fritsch:
Fritsch will face one of the most intimidating tee shots in golf at the par-3 16th hole in Phoenix. Raucous fans fill the stands that surround the entire hole and they aren’t bashful about booing a bad shot. There is no other hole like it in the game. Making the field in Phoenix is bittersweet for Fritsch. He is on the road for the fourth straight week and away from his wife and small child back home in Holly Springs.‘It’s another week away from my family,’ he said. ‘I was sort of looking forward to seeing them.’ Fritsch had a bit of home with him in San Diego. He tweeted a photo of his caddie, Jeff Scott, wearing a Campbell University logo next to Fritsch’s name on his caddie bib. “Proud of Jeff for rocking his caddie bib today,” Fritsch tweeted. “Go Camels!
And here’s that “Go Camels!” tweet that Fritsch sent:
Proud of @fejygolf for rocking this caddie bib today! Go Camels! twitter.com/BradFritsch/st…
